However, the Ascent comes with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 277 pounds-feet of torque, compared to the 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 262 pounds-feet of torque in the Pilot.
  • Both the Ascent and the Pilot offer an impressive suite of technology features throughout the lineup. However, all 2021 Subaru Ascent models come with a Starlink multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The Honda Pilot also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but both features don't come standard on the base model.
  • The new 2021 Ascent offers more cargo space than the Pilot does, with 17.8 cubic feet available behind the third-row and up to 86.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with the rear seats folded flat. The Pilot offers 16.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row and up to 83.9 cubic feet of maximum cargo space with the rear seats down.

  • All 2021 Subaru Ascent models come equipped with a power liftgate, making it easier to loan and unload cargo from your vehicle. The new Highlander offers an available power liftgate, but it doesn't come standard.
  • Both the Ascent and Highlander offer a bevy of standard safety features. However, the new 2021 Ascent offer standard features that you won't find in the base Highlander model, including blind-spot monitoring, a front-view monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
